Its body, rotor, and side plate are all made of magnesium that is extremely lightweight and durable.

It will definitely endure many years of saltwater fishing as long as you don’t forget to give it a good rinse it with fresh water after.

It has an aluminum spool that is double-anodized to resist corrosion superbly. Add to that, it has machine ported sidewalls that help minimize the weight of your reel.

Pflueger Supreme XT In-Depth Review

The Pflueger Supreme XT’s gear ratio is 6.2:1 and it retrieves 31.8 inches of line per crank.

Its braid capacity is 275 pounds per 6 yards, 190 pounds per 8 yards, and 160 pounds per 10 yards.

The great thing is that Pflueger is capable of keeping its reel’s lightness without sacrificing the strength or durability.

It only weighs around 6.8 ounces and has a maximum drag of 10 pounds which is pretty decently proportionate.

The spool is braid-ready out of the box with rubber ridges that spare you the need to back the spool with mono.

On the top of the spool sits the lightest carbon fiber drag system. It’s completely sealed to help keep the water out of its system and to keep it performing well even under big loads.

The EVA knob is quite compact which makes it a little difficult to adjust.

Once you manage it though, you’re going to enjoy how comfortable it feels and how it gives you a solid grip thanks to the dimples incorporated on either of its sides.

Moreover, the carbon fiber handle gives it a unique look that matches the black and orange quite well.

It also keeps it 21% lighter than the average aluminum handle.

Furthermore, you can switch between left to right-handed retrieve very easily if you want to rest one arm for a while. The anti-reverse switch ensures the firmness of your hook sets.

The sure-click bail design combines many features.

The bail itself is made of solid aluminum and has an anti-twist titanium line roller that keeps your line untangled and smoothly wound onto the spool.

It also makes this snapping sounds when you open the bail preparing to cast.

The Pflueger Supreme XT has a total of 10 stainless steel ball bearings that resist corrosion and deliver a smooth performance.

Pros:

  • Highly portable and light
  • Carbon drag system that is perfectly sealed
  • Anti-rever switch
  • The aluminum spool that comes braid-ready

Cons:

  • The braided line can get stuck inside the bail roller
  • Can be a little bit harder to clean than rival reels
  • The portholes in the spool can make it prone to dirt and grime

Pflueger Supreme XT Summary

The Pflueger Supreme XT isn’t the cheapest reel you can get, but it definitely gives you great value for your money.

Its knob might feel a little hard to adjust at first and it takes a little effort to clean, but when all is said and done, it’s one of the best reels you can get.
